Durham Balloon Festival

So today I was on assignment at the Durham Hot Air Balloon Festival.

Held in the city for the second year the event aims to feature mass balloon flights at dawn and dusk each day over the Spring Bank Holiday weekend and offers tethered balloon flights and a balloon night glow.

Unfortunately today the wind was right on the limit of the safety parameters they can fly in so none of the flights took place and the balloons or ‘envelopes’ were removed from the baskets for the night glow for safety reasons. However an enthusiastic crowd seemed to enjoy the display all the same.

At the end of a long 19-hour day for me shooting the event these are some of what I was able to get…
